About Us

The Mid-Ulster Gundog Association was formed in 1994 and is currently one of the most active and progressive Gundog Associations in Northern Ireland. It is extremely proud to have Lady Moyola as Patron and Lord Dunluce as President. The first meeting was held in the Royal Hotel Cookstown where the following officers took their positions, these included; Chairman Mr J Johnston, Hon. Secretary Mr R Wray, Treasurer Mr E McGregor and Vice-Chairman Mr Hugh Gates. The Association has seven officers and a further eight members make up the working committee, membership continues to grow steadily. Affiliation to the English Kennel Club came in 1999 and in 2001 the Association was granted Novice Field Trial status. The first Trial was held in December 2001 at Glenarm Castle, Estate. In 2008 Open Field Trial status was granted and the first Open was held at Glenarm in December 2008 by kind permission of Lord Dunluce. Regular committee meetings are held in the Hanover House, Coagh including the AGM in March.

The Association holds several events throughout the season; three Field Trials (1 Open and 2 Novice 12 A.V. Retriever), International Gundog team test and Open at The Northern Ireland Game Fair & Country Lifestyle Festival, Working Tests for Unclassified, Novice and Open dogs at Drumcairne, Forest Park.
